Download instructions

Create a new folder on your computer named GRADE or anything you want. Download either of the files above to the new folder. Unzip the file. On later versions of Windows you can unzip by right clicking on the file name and then choose "Extract.." A new file will appear in the folder (or a sub-folder) click on that to start the program.

Version differences
Both versions look the same and run the same. Both versions are file compatible meaning that grade book scores created using one version will work with the other.

DOS & 32 bit version will print only to printer connected to a parallel printer port and will require DOSBox to run on 64 bit computers and will not run full screen on Windows versions after '98.

64 bit version will print to the Windows default printer no matter which port the printer uses, will not require DOSBox, and can run in a window or full screen. This version will also run on 32 bit versions of Windows XP or later.

Program overview
This program allows you to keep track of a class's grades. This program is your basic grade book, if you can use a regular paper grade book then you can use this program. No bizzare features, no arcane commands to learn. Press just one key to total up the entire grade book. Press [F1] for extensive online help written in actual english, not computerese. It can't get much simpler than this and still run on a computer.

In a paper grade book you fill in your scores on pages of the grade book, one page will hold the scores on many different tests, homework assignments, lab projets, etc. Using this software instead of pages you will have screens. Basically the same thing. One thing different is that you may use different screens to enter scores for different types of grades. You may keep grades in four types, tests, quizzes, classwork, and homework (or name the types whatever you want.) Each grade type may hold up to 29 sets of grades (per grading period / semester, up to 4 periods) for up to 35 students. Each set of grades may be weighted from 0 to 9 within each grade type. Or you can enter all the type of grades one one screen if you want to.

Each grade type may be weighted (0% to 100%) to determine the grading period's totals.

Grades can be broken up into 1 to 4 grading periods. Each grading period may be weighted (0% to 100%) to determine the final grade.

If you give a midterm and final exam their scores may be entered into the Test page like any other test (with a weight from 1 to 9) or you may enter them on the Year's Total page and give them a percentage weight of the total grade, for example...

                               First graded period = 20%
                               Second graded period = 20%
                               Third graded period = 20%
                               Fourth graded period = 20%
                               Midterm test = 10%
                               Final test = 10%

A score of 0 is considered as a non-assignment and will not be calculated into the total grade. However a score from -1 to -5 will count as a 0 grade and will be calculated (as a 0) into the final grade. The reason for there being five 0 grades (-1 to -5) is so that you can code in the reason for a 0. For example a -1 could mean that the student got all the answers wrong, -2 could mean that the assignment was not handed in, -3 could mean that the student was caught cheating, etc. You decide what each code means.

If you allow extra credit the maximum score for any assignment is 120. This program will keep track of up to 138 files. Each file will hold one class's grades for one subject. Each file may be password protected if you wish.

You may print out whatever is shown on the current screen, entire grade book pages, or print out a report of all the information on one student for one grading period.

Student names may be copied from one file to another so that you do not have to type in the same names for multiple courses of the same class.

Parent / Teacher Conference mode allows you to display all the information on only one student.

Print one page, a section of the grade book, or the entire grade book. If 'one student report' is selected program will print out one report for one student or a report for each student. Select what you want, begin print cycle, go away. When you return everything will be printed, you do not have to sit there and select, then print, select, then print, etc.
