WARNING! If your computer is running a 64 bit version of Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, 10, or 11 this POS program will not automatically run on your computer. To run this program under 64 bit you will have to install another program either DOSBox or DOSbox-x, and then run this POS program under one of those. This page is designed to help you choose between the two (although there are other options available.) DOSBox is the older of the two and is slightly easier to install and set up. PLEASE NOTE: Using either of these options will take some effort on your part to set up. However during the setup you can configure either of the options in the future to load and run the POS program by a single click on an icon. DOSBox has not been updated for several years, DOSBox-x is actively being updated. Some of the features in the POS program are not available in DOSBox while they are available in DOSBox-x, for example the key press combination of [CTRL]+[F12] is a DOSBox command meaning that you cannot use it during a sale to put a note in a transaction however it is available in DOSBox-x. However in DOSBox-x while you can save notes using [ALT]+[F1] to [F10] you can only post a saved note using [CTRL] + [F1], [F3], [F4], [F7] or [F8]. On some of games that I have written in QuickBASIC the sound will not function under DOSBox but works fine under DOSBox-x. After a recent Windows upgrade on my DELL Windows 11 computer the POS program will no longer function under DOSBox but works fine under DOSBox-x. If you wish to run multiple DOS software besides the POS program (like games) you can use another program DOSSHELL with DOSBox to give you a window of options or use the program DGBL with DOSBox-x. See below. DGBL will require that Java be loaded on your computer, DOSSHELL will not. For detailed instructions on how to set up either of these programs click... DOSBox DOSbox-x
